Magnolia Me!

Who knew local Palm Beacher, Jordann Weingartner, was such a celeb!  Searching through People.com this morning and came across our little Jordann and her fabulous Magnolia Collection.  A HUGE fan of the Kardashians, and of course Jordann, it was a perfect marriage...Kourtney sporting her "Mason" Magnolia!!!  I couldn't of asked for a better surprise over my morning coffee.

I never leave home without a piece of Magnolia.  My favorite piece has to be my large open Magnolia on an 18" chain.  Jordann, being one of my most amazing friends, arrived at my wedding (ready and rearing to give birth) with a Magnolia charm monogrammed with my new initials, BKG.  I immediately added my monogram charm to my favorite large magnolia and, tada...my go to piece!  But, I do have to say I am seen sporting my Magnolia 18K gold posts on a regular basis as well.

So, my thought of the day....Go out and get yourself a Magnolia!!!  Whether it be hoops, posts or a necklace, you will be the bell of the ball!

To order please log onto www.jordannjewlery.com or call the girls at C.Orrico (my FAVORITE place to shop in Palm Beach) at 561.659.7820.

Peace!

Sweet and simple!

“It’s over before you know it, step back and take it all in” the words of wisdom spoken by a true friend hours before I took my vows. Should have taken her advice!

My wedding was amazing. I loved every minute of April 10, 2010. I will say, the weather was making me turn into a slight Bridezilla but I took matters into my own hands and kept myself busy. Hours before I said, “I do”, I was folding napkins, alphabetizing place cards and placing overlays on tables. I was so busy I never even realized the sheets of rain were only minutes away! Well the Gods were with me, or shall I say my father.  For as windy and threatening as the sky looked, it never rained a drop and the wind provided free air conditioning throughout the evening!

It was over in a flash.  The next thing I knew I was in a vintage Rolls Royce throwing back my Diva Donuts covered in powdered sugar and on my way to The Breakers.  I woke up Sunday morning, rubbed my eyes, looked out at the roaring ocean and realized, it was over.  The eleven months of planning and it was over.

So, my thoughts were, LET'S DO IT AGAIN!  I am on my 129th day dreaming about what I would do differently if I had the chance.  I always dreamed of getting married barefoot on the beach to my Prince Charming.  Been there, done that.

If I could do it again it would be small and simple. Picnic tables affixed perfectly in the lawn, guests seated elbow to elbow. Rustic burlap runners with low square vases packed to the gills with blue and white hydrangeas. Paper lanterns hanging throughout hundred year old seagrape trees. To eat...lobster rolls on a perfectly toasted potato bun, crisp shoestring french fries and of course, vanilla rum cake from Edda's Cake Designs in Miami. Simple but classic.

I will continue to dream...or just have an elaborate dinner party!

Sisterly Love

I just returned from Iselsboro, Maine after the most perfect vacation with my sister and her family.  My nephew, now five, and neice, to whom we refer to as "the house bitch", now three, gave me a run for my money.  Early to rise every morning around 7am, My nephew's first words were, "... boat...boat...boat...boat...boat".  Needless to say, he knows every boat on the island, who owns it, the proper name and whether or not it is faster or slower than Dark 'N' Stormy, my sister and brother-in-laws new Hunt.  Although, he informed me several times that DNS was HIS boat.  The, "house bitch" wasn't short on words either... "Lindsay Lohan is going to jail...she made bad choices" were some of the first words uttered as I spit out my lemonade in complete laughter.  After several days of her telling me I wasn't her friend, she finally warmed up to her favorite Aunt Beezie and, from there, her typical conversation revolved around princess tea parties or which dress she would be wearing to the next island soiree.

My sister and I bonded over wine, doubles tennis and of course, decorating!  Ramey is an incredibly talented designer in Denver, Colorado (Griffin Design Source) and recently had an amazing spread of her Iselsboro home featured in Coastal Living.  Her Maine cottage is decorated to a t with Sister Parish fabrics and wallpapers.  Sister Parish Design, resurrected by her granddaughter, Susan Crater, a long time resident of Iselsboro, exudes the best in design, focusing on color and bold designs.  I fell in love with several new designs in their current collection...my favorite being Chou-Chou and Dolly.  Can't wait to move so I can go "Sister" crazy!

With Love,

Ole'

The beauty of Weight Watchers is the freedom to eat what you want...in moderation of course!  After a short visit to New York City to visit my best friend Lindsay, I was introduced to the most amazing, tantalizing, delicious vegetable I have ever put to my lips!

We ventured downtown to Diablo Royale (189 West 10th Street).  Saddling up to the bar, I ordered two Patron Margaritas on the rocks with salt.  Sipping on complete happiness, Lindsay glanced over her shoulder to a table of cute boys and right when I thought she was going to say, "check out the blond one", she blurted out..."Is that corn"?!  We looked a bit harder and sure enough, it was the most perfect corn on the cob.

Finally sitting down to our table for two, we immediately grabbed the menu and there it was...grilled corn.  Corn on the cob with lime mayo, cotija and sprinkled with cayenne.  Melt in your mouth, words cannot describe this heavenly Diablo specialty.

For your convenience I have attached the recipe:

Mexican Corn!
         4 ears of corn
         3 tbsps. mayonnaise
         2 tsps. lime juice
         2 tbsps. cotija cheese
     (Parmesan will also work)
         1/2 tsp. chili powder
         1/4 tsp. cayenne pepper
         1/4 tsp. cumin
         1 pinch salt
Directions
If you are using a gas grill, set the temperature to medium. If you are using a charcoal barbecue, get the coals to the point that white ash is showing and the coals are glowing and are spread out in an even layer. Grill the corn for 12 minutes total. Continually move the corn so each side is grilled.
In a bowl whisk together the mayonnaise and lime juice. In a separate bowl mix together the cheese, chili powder, cayenne pepper, cumin, and salt.
Spread the mayonnaise mix over the corn. Sprinkle the cheese mix over the corn.

Enjoy!

Spare tire...deflate it!

before...August 2010
Are you feeling like every other Palm Beacher come August?  All of a sudden you have eatin' your way through Maine or Nantucket...lobster rolls, corn on the cob slobbered with butter and red wine galore!!!  It felt great going down but not so hot as you are now sporting the not so perfect accessory, the spare tire?!  Don't fret, the answer is here!  Jump on the Weight Watchers train.  Thousands swear by this fool proof plan, so I tried it.

I ventured up to Weight Watchers on US1 in North Palm Beach.  Feeling very at home with twenty other overweight Americans, I jumped on the scale and weighed in.  After an hour of inspirational stories and quick tips from the Weight Watchers meeting leader, I was confident I could take on the WW challenge.

Several days later and I feel great!  I have completed my first goal, losing 5% of my total weight.  I will keep you posted on my progress!

Peace
